There are a few experiences that are “classic Americana”, but the drive-in movie concept is definitely one of them. Established in the 1930’s as a response to uncomfortable theatre seats and stuffy movie halls, drive-in theatres afforded customers other benefits that theatres couldn’t offer. Parents could bring their children and let them play at the drive-in playground. Families could hold conversations during the movie in the confines of their own car. Food options were better as most drive-ins offered more extensive food and better options than their inside counterparts.

Fast forward to 2019 and the upcoming Pound Ridge Drive-in Movie Night. While the drive-in movie concept may be the same, this is not your daddy’s drive-in movie. At this drive-in we Tailgate. We Tailgate with the finest Pound Ridge has to offer. Every restaurant in town will be at the 2019 event, preparing Tailgate classics.

At this drive-in, we Tailgate with friends and local businesses alike. The FoPR Drive-in features not only our local restaurants but our local businesses as well. Come visit with shop/business owners, catch up on the local trends, and enjoy the fun and laughter of a true community-wide affair. But wait, that is just the beginning. Did we mention the first Annual FoPR-Pound Ridge Cornhole Classic? Do you think you have what it takes to walk away with the PR Cornhole Championship Belt (literally)? The Cornhole Classic pits friends against friends in a single-elimination, winner take all tournament.

And should you be an early exit from the Cornhole Classic, drag your sorrows over to the first annual Pound Ridge Celebrity Dunk Tank! From 5:00 – 7:30 we’ll be loading the Dunk Tank with some of your local favorites including Kevin Hansan, Amy Fishkin (PRES), Billy Fortin (Market at PRSQ), Justin Brent (PRFD) and more! It will be 3 throws to try to and sink a local friend/leader/good sport! And of course, 100% of the net proceeds will benefit FoPR local projects including the Pondhouse Initiative and the Fountain Initiative.

And for the kids? American Ninja Warrior Inflatable Zone, Family Dragon Karate and Athletic Movement sponsored activities!

We hope to see you Saturday, September 7 for a community-wide evening of food, beer, wine, and local camaraderie all for a good cause.
